To whom it may concern: I am presently seeking a position on Long Island as an Office Manager. I have 25 years solid work experience, am mature, focused, dependable, and highly intelligent & have excellent references both that can be verified verbally and letters of reference as well. I left my position at Webair Internet Development in late August of 2009 to undergo surgery (Orthopedic - Achilles Tendon Repair), which had a 3-month recuperation period with healing and physical therapy. Unfortunately during this time my company moved and downsized as well in order to make internal changes that would benefit the company monetarily. Therefore my voluntary leave of absence became a layoff and fortunately for them I trained my assistant well and she was able to perform my job in my absence and from here going forward still is. We are on very good terms and there were no hard feelings - I still have communication with the CEO and he will give me an excellent reference. In my free time I am exploring and immersing myself in social networking (professional) and I promote his company when the opportunity arises. I have mainly worked for small companies - meaning fewer than 75 people and prefer it. I have worked since graduating NYU in 1982 and have omitted my early work experience in that it would make for a long tiring read and I doubt anybody really cares what I did 25 years ago (which was an advertising account executive at Bernard Hodes Advertising). I work with a passion for what I do - the "fit" is very important to me since my job defines the majority of my time - I am not a clock watcher and I prefer to think of my employment as my profession and my employer as my client - it simply is not just a job or paycheck to me - I feel that is a negative mentality and thus affects an individuals abilities not only in the office but across the board. I am looking for a salary of at least $50,000 plus I was making $55,000 at my last position in which I started at $40K and was at $55K in 18 months - at this point in my career I know I am an asset to any company and this is evident in my performance on a daily basis - I am a true team player and not at all competitive but ambitious to nurture and encourage those around me so we can all grow as a team. Lastly, we all multi-task in life in 2010 - we all have no choice, however, I do believe that one must focus on one task at a time long enough to complete it as far as possible - too many people juggle and go from task to task and actually have no accomplishments at the end of the day. This is a rather long cover letter but I feel it is important to have potential employers know something about my mindset and goals. Thank you for your consideration.
