We Fight To Remember
We Fight To Remember is a chapbook that reveals the poets brilliance in the art of
words. This is one of the most fascinating books of poetry Ive ever had the pleasure of
reading.
John Juan Smolinski was inspired to pursue a passion for writing poetry. This chapbook
fulfills a dream of publishing a collection of Pantoums, a Malaysian form of which he is
most fond.
The pantoum is a short folk poem typically made up of two rhyming couplets that were
recited or sung. The modern pantoum is a poem of any length, composed of four-line
stanzas in which the second and fourth lines of each stanza serve as the first and third
lines of the next stanza. The last line of a pantoum is often the same as the first.
John is a contributing poet in Layers, an anthology published by Plainview Press of
Austin, Texas.
